From The KIB: Bugs in Barley

There have been many recent reports of bug infestation in bags of barley.  This is especially true of the Jewish companies (ie Gefen, Ungars etc.).  One must be careful to check barley before using.  The method for this is to dump the bag of barley into a bowl (preferably white) and cover with water.  Let it sit for a couple of minutes and then check the water.  Often, bugs will float to the top.  It is a good idea to then also agitate the barley in the water and then check again for bugs.
