Cakes being sold at the Jewel on Howard and Kedzie in Evanston, IL, are labeled O/U Pareve, Pas Yisroel. Some cakes were decorated with whole, Oreo brand cookies instead of a brand that is certified as Pas Yisroel. Oreo cookies can be identified by the Oreo name imprinted on the cookie. For those who are careful to eat only food items that are Pas Yisroel, please be sure to check your cake and remove the Oreo cookies before eating the cake.
